St Michael with Shield

This representation draws inspiration from the devotional traditions of the Judeo-Christian faith, echoing the powerful imagery found within the Book of Psalms, particularly Psalm 144:1, which celebrates divine guidance and strength in the face of struggle. Historically, such depictions of a celestial warrior reflect the medieval and Renaissance iconography of Archangel Michael, who serves as the protector against chaos and the embodiment of spiritual fortitude. By combining the solemnity of biblical scripture with the classical aesthetic of a protective angelic guardian, this piece serves as a timeless meditation on the themes of faith, divine defense, and the resolute courage found in unwavering spiritual conviction.
