Deriving its name from its long local tradition St. Mary's
Bookstore is now in its eighth decade of offering Christian Books,
Supplies, gifts and collectible.
Started in the
basement of St. Mary's Church in Nashville, Tennessee in 1939, the
bookstore was owned and operated by the Catholic Diocese of Nashville
until 1979 when store founder Monsignor Charles Williams retired.
Present owner Jean Dortch then purchased the bookstore from the Diocese.
Three years later she moved into a lovely and conveniently located 9000
square foot building at 1909 West End Avenue in Nashville, where it is
currently located. The store is operated by Jean Dortch and her
daughters Donna Turner and Julie Cragon, and her son-in-law Allen
Cragon.
St. Mary's is truly a family business and is, as their motto
declares, more than a bookstore.
